microsilica (or silica fume) is amorphous, powdered sio2 collected by specially designed dust collector after the oxidization of silicon steam emitted by flue during the smelting of ferro-silicon alloy or industrial silicon. with an average particle size of 0.15~0.20 crystalline m and a specific surface area of 15,000 ~20000m 2 /kg, the microsilica has a strong surface activity.
the main component of microsilica is amorphous silica, and the rising furnace gas also contains impurities, such as free c, fe2o3, cao, k2o, na2o and so on. the color of microsilicachanges from white, grey to grey and deep grey as c and fe2o3 content increases.
the microsilica directly after dust collection is called raw ash, whose bulk density is 150~300kg/m3. for the convenience of transportation and engineering application, the original ash can also be encrypted.
